What a great party

IT’S party time . . . and among the children having a great time last night at The Bolton News Kidzone Christmas party were a group of very special youngsters.

They were the children of hit-and-run victim, Gorden Kay, who were given the star treatment when a luxury limousine took them to the party in style.

A chauffeur pulled up outside their Kearsley home and took them on an hour-long trip around town before arriving at the Reebok Stadium, where Mr Kay’s five youngest children were guests of honour at the party.

They were: Jessica, aged nine; Liam, aged seven; Amy, aged five; Megan, aged three; and Adam, aged 18 months. They got the chance to meet Father Christmas and each was presented with a special gift.

The special evening was organised by The Bolton News as a way of bringing a little happiness to the youngsters, who have been struggling to cope with the death of their father.

His wife Shirley is pregnant with the couple’s sixth child.

Mr Kay also has two other children, Johnathon, aged 13, and Shannon, aged 11, from a previous relationship.

Mr Kay, aged 34, of Grosvenor Street, Kearsley, was cycling to work at 6am on October 30 when he was hit by a vehicle in Manchester Road at Moses Gate, by the junction with St Peter’s Way.

Adam, aged 18 months, Megan, aged three, Amy, aged five, Liam, aged seven, Abbie O'Brien, the nine-year-old little sister of the children's mother, and Jessica, also aged nine.
Adam, aged 18 months, Megan, aged three, Amy, aged five, Liam, aged seven, Abbie O’Brien, the nine-year-old little sister of the children’s mother, and Jessica, also aged nine.

The driver did not stop and has still not been traced. Mr Kay was found dying at the side of the road by a passing motorist and lost his fight for life at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Last night, the five children, along with Abbie O’Brien, their mother’s little sister, were collected by a top-of-the-range limo Hummer - which boasts a mirrored ceiling, LCD TVs and flashing lights - before being taken to the Kidzone party.

Kevin Hinds, managing director of Lancashire-based Jet Set Limousines, who provided the limo, said: “If we put a smile on their faces, even for an hour, the journey will have been worth it.

“The Hummer is a monster and we hope they had a fantastic time.”

Jessica said: “My teacher said it is not fair that I am going in a limo because she has never been in one. It was really good, we all loved it.”

Liam, added: “I really liked the limo - I loved everything about it.”

Mrs Kay said: “They have all been really excited about this. It was a real treat for them.”

Jet Set Limousines step into the breach to assist in Rock FM charity day throughout Lancashire

december-13th-2007-020.jpg

Thurdsay 20th December 2007 was Rock FM’s annual fund raising “Quid for a kid day” in aid of the help a local child charity which raises money to assist some of the most deserving causes involving children throughout Lancashire.

Organisers suffered a setback when a different limo firm in Lancashire let them down at the last minute. Having worked with Jet Set before, the Radio Station contacted Jet Set bosses who immediately supplied a brand new Hummer limo and chauffeur for the day to help collect cash from workplaces around the Preston area.

Limo boss Kevin Hinds said, “We think Rock FM’s “help a local child” fundraising team work really hard to make a big difference to some of the children in Lancashire when they need it most. We were pleased to be asked and proud to be able to assist.

Our chauffeur had a great time with the charity collection team who had dressed up as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs just for the occasion.

Top limo hire company Jet Set into Blackpool for xmas knees up

Blackpool Limo Night Out

Blackpool was overrun with Jet Setters on Monday evening when we enjoyed our annual xmas bash.

It was the only night of the year that you couldn’t get a limo in Blackpool when you needed one.  Even the boss took a taxi home.

This year we combined our xmas party with our company awards ceremony which was held at the re-vamped G-Casino in Blackpool.  In typical fashion, the casino had to lay on the biggest stretched tables for the event.

Staff travelled from all over Lancashire to get there and all had a fab night out. Major award winners included Jeanette Eastham (Jet Set Chauffeur of the Year), Kate Bethel (Outstanding Contribution Award - Kate is European Chauffeur of the year for 2007/08) and Patrick Cuddihy (Chauffeur Personality of the Year).

Some of the older hands were awarded service presentations and a couple of our most promising younger chauffeurs also picked up awards.

Conrad Wright (Head Chauffeur) said “The evening was outstanding, great food, great fun, great company and a refreshing change. The entire chauffeur team are all very enthusiastic and really got into the swing of the evening. They deserve a big night out as they work extremely hard all year round to ensure our clients enjoy the best limo experience in the country. All of them are very proud of the job they do and are really excited about the future of Jet Set Limousines.”

Jet Set Limousines launch new “Santa Cruise” Xmas Party Service in Lancashire.

santacruiseblogsize.jpg

Europe’s leading limo firm, Blackpool based, Jet Set Limousines have launched a novel xmas party package which is sure to cause a stir this xmas.

Anyone looking to liven up their xmas festivities in Lancashire might want to take advantage of the UK’s first “Santa Cruise” limo party.

Limo boss Kevin Hinds said, “It took a while for us to convince ourselves that there would be a market for this service but interest is huge. Obviously people are looking to have fun at xmas time and we thought that having Santa drive your limo was a novel way of theming a limo party. Our biggest hurdle was traning Santa to drive a limo, but once he got used to it, he found it simpler than the reindeer and sleigh. In fact the service could be soo popular that he might be in contention for next years European chauffeur of the year awards.”

The Santa cruise can be incorporated into any limo hire and for a small additional charge, Santa can present passengers with a gift boxed model limo.

A Memorable Limo Convoy Night in Blackpool - New World Record to be Confirmed

Limo Hire Blackpoollimoconvoypic1.jpg

Blackpool, October 8th 2007….when a little bit of history was made by a combination of limousine operators, a very generous general public and lots of assistance from the town of Blackpool itself.

Over 120 stretched limousines, stretched Hummer limos,  4X4 limos, a mayoral limousine, a stretched Ferrari and the Terminator travelled a 2 mile course in convoy to break the Guinness World Record for the longest limo convoy ever. In the process a huge some of money was raised for some excellent causes and it seems that the limo industry has found a new spiritual home on the Golden Mile in the party capital of Europe.

Hundreds of people donated generously to charitable causes to take a passenger seat in the limos as they paraded along the promenade and on behalf of the whole orgainising team, I would like to say a big thank you to all who arrived to support this event so generously.

The total length of the convoy is recorded at 1.3 miles although this is yet to be ratified by the Guinness people so we will wait a little while longer before celebrations commence.  We believe that the American limo industry is a little miffed that their record has gone and may attempt a similar event. If so, we may need to do it all again next year, only bigger…..

In the meantime, visit our photo archive site at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jetsetlimos/ to re-live some of the excitement of the night. You can view video footage at search_query=limo+convoy&search=Search
